Networking Profiles - The Student
Networking can be viewed as a game, and when professionals know the rules and the objective of the game, winning is a cinch!
There are many details that are associated with networking and being able to evaluate your character, strengths and weakness will be very instrumental in how you can achieve your networking goals and objectives.
In this unique article, we want to take a look at networking from the characteristic or profile of the professional.
This will be a new series of articles which identify various networking personalities.
The Student
A few professionals fall into the category of the networking personality of The Student.
According to the dictionary term, a student is a learner who is enrolled in an educational institution, or a learned person who has gained mastery in one or more disciplines.
In networking, The Student is not as visible or popular and some of the other networking profile characters.
They are making their way into the lime-light or making their debut.
At this point they are learning the ropes of networking and trying to successfully and cautiously maneuver their way through a group, club, organization or association.
The Student is considered a sponge and will absorb any and all information that will benefit and advance them in their professional and social development.
There are many advantages of being the Student when it comes to networking.
The Student is open to building relationships with various networkers and is not highly exclusive in selecting their network.
They value people and are constantly learning and improving themselves and others.
You are expected to find Students at most networking events mixing, mingling, asking for business cards and following up to achieve their networking endeavors.
Although, the Student has many good characteristics, they also tend to have a few minor flaws.
The Student should carefully outline their networking goals and objectives so that they remain persistent in their networking endeavors.
If they feel like they are not achieving or obtaining their goals in a timely manner, they will quit or slow down their networking progress.
The Student should also focus on building relationships from a mentor perspective.
This will encourage them to develop professionally and reduce the risk of them abandoning their networking endeavors.
